WHAT IS TENCEL™ Lyocell?
Our luxurious bed linens containing TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers are the most sustainable and highest quality linens in the market. They are soft and gentle on the skin, durable and provide the perfect climate to sleep in be it winter or summer
TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG. The generic fiber type is lyocell. It recently has gained popularity, especially within the realm of homeware products.
TENCEL™ lyocell fibers are made out of the cellulose from wood – more specifically, from wood out of sustainably managed forests, , crushed into a pulp and then spun into fibers. Woven fabrics out of these fibers tend to be strong, durable, yet soft, smooth and perfect for those with sensitive skin. The end product has amazing climate control capabilities which will keep you warm in the winter, and cool in the summer.
TENCEL™ Lyocell can also be produced into a thicker filling, called ‘stoph’, which is used in some of our products such as the pillows, duvets and plush mattress comforters. Some of our products containing TENCEL™ Lyocell are woven with Modal, which is a deluxe botanic organic cotton. The Modal fibers bring an extra incredible natural softness and shine to our products. fabrics with TENCEL™ fibers hold up its quality, colour, and shape even after many wash cycles. Our products also contain anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic qualities.

How is Tencel™ is produced?
Forest
TENCEL™ branded lyocell is a fiber made from the cellulose of sustainable wood sources. All trees are sustainably harvested, and from certified and controlled sources .
WOOD
The trees are harvested and brought to Lenzing premises. When the wood arrives it is shredded into small pieces and mixed with a solvent to break down the wood fibers.
PULP
Once the wood is broken down, a pulp mixture is created, the water is drawn out and 99% of the water will be recycled to be used again.
FIBER
The pulp is then pumped through specially designed spinnerets and turned into light and fluffy fibers.
YARN
The fibers can be further processed and made into continuous strands of yarn, that can also be spun with other products such as cotton.
FABRIC
The yarn is then fed into a loom, to create fabric for items such as our premium BYAKUYA bedlinnens.

Our linen supplier is one of the most successful and innovating bedding producers in the world. The entire range of duvets, pillow, mattress toppers and bed linens are 100% produced in Austria to the highest quality standards.
The firm was established in 1907 and is now managed by the fourth generation of the family. It is the only fully integrated bedding manufacturer world wide that produces its comforter in-house, from the yarns and fillings to quilting and the finished product.
We ensure the highest importance to the flawless quality of raw material and perfect processing, write down to the smallest detail.
You can have clear conscience when you sleep in our BYAKUYA because of our sustainable approach to the entire bedding manufacturing operation. The intelligent use of raw material, the careful production processes, short transportation routes due to 100% production in Austria, and the socially responsible work environment of its employees are all interconnected.
BYAKUYA RUG AND CARPETS
We are pleased to offer two fantastics suppliers of our TENCEL™ rugs and carpets. Our first suppliers located in India is producing 100% TENCEL™ handwoven and ethically responsible rugs and carpets. With over 25 years of experience, they now offer a large range of styles, size and colours. We have selected 5 varieties from their collection, with over 50 colours variations. With names like Santushi and Satara, this award winning factory will add a touch of sparkle to any room. Their rugs are rich in texture and very durable.
Our second supplier located in portigal is producing 100% TENCEL™ rugs under their label ‘Botanical silk’. With over 70 years experience, they are one of the best rug and carpet manufacturer in the world. Their Botanical silk provides smooth and plush finish for the most luxurious silky feel. The light reflection and softness of the Botanical silk looks and feels both elegant and comfortable. As you will see when you visit our shop , they offer an amazing range of colors and designs.
